Oh, my word, this book is so beautiful. It's a mix of rough farming reality and ethereal winter fairy tale, and I super loved it. I highly recommend it to anyone, but especially anyone who loved [b:Peace Like a River|227571|Peace Like a River|Leif Enger|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388187735s/227571.jpg|3332231]. The books felt similar to me: open country, wintertime, unexplained phenomenon. I'm so glad read it AND that it was nominated (although did not win) the 2013 Pulitzer for fiction.
I meant to read it last year, but winter came and went, and it seemed wrong to read it in warm weather. Good call, self! This book is meant to be read under a blanket and with a hot drink.
