Very well written as a great page turner, but I think my proper knowledge and expectations of the ghost story let the book down. I wanted it to be scarier, terrifying even, but it lacked bite.

Arthur Kipps is sent to a remote village to settle a clients affairs after she has died. There is a "woman in black" who haunts the deceased clients house and area. This is beautifully written, one of the best ghost stories I have ever read. Overall- exceptionally good read.
