Enjoyed this. Was a very easy book to read and fun. Wanted to know what was going to happen in their strange world. Still don’t know a lot about the why and how. But it was entertaining.

Rather be face to face with the Krik than read this again.

well that was bad. for the entirety of the book i couldn't figure out how old the main characters were. the writing felt childish and a bit dull. i have literally no idea why the characters would throw themselves back into danger to kill the jellyfish after they had just escaped it. the main character sometimes turns from just narrating the story to talking to the reader which was annoying and awkward. there were a few parts where the narrator basically just said i don't want to get into it if they didn't want to describe something they did or how they were feeling. would not read again.

Enjoyed this one and found the concept really interestinf. It's a YA dystopian and I think to be honest it was far too light-hearted for my taste - apparently I prefer darker dystopia. Also what happened to the parents? No mention. No discussion of grief. And set up for a sequel (which I will probably read) rather than really conclusive. But a good page turner with interesting discussion about climate change.

I'm not entirely sure what I think of this book. I like the way the characters are - the way they live and interact, the way they're indomitably teenagers despite the situation they've been living in since they were very young. I like the jellyfish and the kriks (well, I like the way they're written - they're not at all likable as characters go). But what I don't like is the lack of background - I'd really like to know how this bunch of people got marooned on a giant sentient jellyfish. But they can't remember. And I find that really dissatisfying.
Still, I wanted to know what was going to happen next, and I enjoyed Martha's narrative, so overall it was a good read.

I really liked this, surprisingly gripping tale of attempts to escape from the giant jellyfish that is keeping a small community hostage. Moves along quickly, and the unusual environment sustains it.
