Girll…. I know a lot of people hate on the FBAA series but I can’t deny that these prequels are so much better. There is also a lot of hate because she is making four books instead of just three but I think this prequels need a fourth book.
Anyway, I can’t wait for May to come…

Characters are good, plot is decent, but there is absolutely no need for pages and pages of repetitive internal dialogue. This book could have been cut in half or combined with the last book.

A Fire in the Flesh - 2.5-3⭐️
This is the third book in the ‘A Flesh and Fire’ series - this goes without saying but I’ll say it anyways, possible spoilers ahead!!
I think making this series 4 books instead of 3 was a mistake. This book is a perfect example of some authors taking the popularity of their books for granted. Don’t get me wrong, this was an entertaining book. People who know the type of reader I am know that I can be entertained and be lead to love a book very easily - but even this was a stretch for me. I think this book couldn’t been 350-400 pages and been as equally as entertaining. There really wasn’t a need for this book to be 630 pages.
This series started off so good. It had all the best bits from FBAA and presented it in a somewhat new way with an interesting FMC and MMC. It had such incredibly lovable side characters and an interesting, somewhat easy to follow world, and a clear villain. With the way this book turned out, it kinda ruined all that good for me. 75% of the book is spent repeating the same scenes over and over, the next 10% was creepy and the last 15% was essentially just an extended smut scene. Harsh to describe the book this way, I know, but it really felt like that for me. There were very minimal revelations in this book and the main question that we’ve been asking (and Sera has been asking - repeatedly IYKYK) for the past two books was no where near answered. There were some parts in the last 15% that was touching, but also felt like an easy cop out. The whole reason that there was so much stress about Sera Ascending was because Ash couldn’t do it due to him not having his heart - but then that suddenly doesn’t matter anymore? Why make that a plot device then? I love the fated mates trope as much as the next girl but common… I don’t know it just fell flat for me here.
So while I enjoyed some parts and was entertained, it’s getting a 2.5-3⭐️ from me. I wouldn’t start this series if I knew it was going to be this way honestly. Will I read the next one? Yeah, but that’s just because I need to finish the series - I made it this far. Also, the fact that there were barely any of the amazing side characters from the previous books in this one? A crime

This book really dragged on and didn’t forward the plot as much as I hoped it would. The entire time in captivity with Kolis frustrated me because Sera kept being “I’m going to fake it till I make it like I’ve been literally raised to do”, wouldn’t be able to do it, and then ruined her chances. It was just on repeat.
Also, the spicy scenes in the last 10% of the book felt a little forced to me.
With that being said, I still enjoyed reading this and am glad I did. The few chapters when Sera was out of prison before ascending made me so emotional of the love and respect she had gained.

Still a good entry in the series, but JLA can tend to get repetitive and lost in characters inner worlds and thoughts. I felt that in the middle and definitely at the end of the book. Didn't really end on a strong cliffhanger - I know there's unfinished politics, but it wasn't focused on at the end here and I wish it were.
Otherwise, I enjoyed it and bawled when the final quarter of the book started.

The book felt more repetitive than the second one, it needs an editor. The first and last few chapters were good, but the middle dragged on for far too long while nothing happened. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

This book was devastatingly heartbreaking, stressful, tense and then wholesome at the end. A great read but please check the trigger warnings before reading
