It’s no secret that the two series that JLA has created are high favorites of mine. I love them, most because of Sera and Poppy being bad ass FMCs and plus size on top of that.

But this book….oh my god, I picked it up. Put it down, paused it, unpaused it. I couldn’t get through it. And it wasn’t till nearly 50% of the book that I realized why….I didn’t give two shits about Kolis or anything related to him.

The moment that annoying ass psychopathic man waltzed into this book - I hated him. And Callum, fuck him too. If I had to read any more about his he was psychotically “in love” with Sotoria I was gonna ram my head through a wall.

I scanned through to find the exact spot Ash comes back into the picture just to give myself motivation. And amazingly the moment I did - finished the book in a week.

And the moment we got back to Ash and Sera I was back into the story, the plot and everything else. And I know that’s bad - cause Kolis is the big conflict. But I felt I was reading the same scene over and over again during Sera’s time with him.

The scene (and no spoilers) between Ash and Sera in the lake toward the end of the book - oh it almost brought tears to my eyes it was so emotional. And then the AFTER. I had to put the book down cause one second I’m panicking, then I’m stressed, then I was crying, and then it was getting steamy.

Now time for the last book - so sad this series is ending. Rumors are FBAA is becoming a show. I would love that but I fear it’ll be butchered and I’ll hate it. ESPECIALLY if Poppy isn’t plus sized!!

I might be done with this author. Ended up skimming most of the book because of the repetitive interior monologue. Also the first third was cringe.

Reading the Kolis bit was A LOT - there was sooo much
SA, abuse, etc.
it got kind of hard to read at times. I also wish they would have put in a couple of chapters of nyktos and others so it wasn’t just all sera. They were also separated for a LOOONg time which was a little killer.

The last bit of the book was much better. I adore Ash and Sera so much. I loved how the book ended with spice and a little bit of cry.  Their story is just the best

A Fire In The Flesh (Flesh and Fire Book 3)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“You’re brave, strong, and resilient. You don’t need anyone to fight your battles. You never have. You don’t now.” My chest rose and fell rapidly as I listened to him.“But I will fight for you.”

A guttural, inhuman growl shook the cage. “Get your f@!*ing hands off my wife.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t get to you sooner, but I’ve got you now, liessa, and I won’t let go. I’ll never let go again.”

...........................................................

As this is book 3 of the Flesh and Fire series, my review will be short so as to not give any spoilers, but oh my gosh! So many things were happening in this book. I mean there was love, conflict, surprises, twists, and more! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering how this part of the story was going to conclude. Let me tell you, I wasn't mad about it 😉. I feel like this was the perfect conclusion for this section of the story, and I absolutely cannot wait to see where this series goes next!

Also, some of you may feel like this is blasphemous, but Daddy Nyk Nyk and Sera are now sitting at the top of my fictional couples list. I absolutely love these two together! Nyktos continues to be the ultimate man in every way imaginable, and Sera is so strong, resilient, and as I've said before, a true woman warrior. These two together... mmm, chef's kiss 🤌. I just have no words!

P.S. I feel like reading order does matter in this series and the crossover to the Blood and Ash series.

I usually enjoy the books in this series because of the cheesy romance but I really struggled to get through this one. This book is about main character, Sera’s, time spent under the captivity of the King of the Primals, Kolis, and it is pretty dark but also very drawn out with a lot of emotional suffering. I read books that are fun and entertaining and 80% of this book made me tense and anxious. I don’t enjoy that kind of reading experience so this has been my least favorite book of the series, but some people might enjoy exploring those other emotions.

a good amount of the book was rough to read because of everything Sera goes through but I found all the emotional processing around the traumatic events very relatable and well written

I just can't get enough of Sera and Nyktos and their love story. I am obsessed with them. And the entirety of the Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire series. The main characters, supporting characters, banter, tension, gods, dragons, magic, smut- it's all so well thought out. Sera is such a strong and badass leading lady and I adore her wholeheartedly. Dying to read the next book that comes out next week!
