I feel like most of this book was filler. For a good 2/3 of the book it is the same thing happening over and over: Kolis being a creep and a whining psychopath, Callum being annoying and stupid, and Sera (understandably) having a lot of inner monologue.
It was also very weird to me how much humor was put in during Sera's inner monologue. Maybe it was to show disassociation, but the scene when she finds the other gods and sees what she does... I rolled my eyes so hard. Also, glass what now??
What I did like was seeing the dynamic with Kolis and some other gods. It was nice to see that not all of them just bowed and took crap. I liked that Sera was still Sera. She is smart, and she used her skills to keep herself alive. I

The kidnapping and being held captive part. I think that this part of the story could have been a lot shorter, and the amount of abuse was totally not necessary to the story. I did appreciate that JLA seemed aware that it was too long and had Sera basically say, "wow, I could have escaped so much sooner."
Sera, Kolis, and Callum were the majority of the book and I just kept skimming because I wanted other characters. Thank goodness for Attes! It would have been a better use of pages to maybe write chapters from Bele's perspective or something so we could see the amazing characters from books 1 and 2.
It also felt weird to drag out the whole "what will happen to me and the embers" bit, because we know from reading FBAA that she obviously survives. Unless it is there for people who didn't read the other series. Even so, the build up just felt forced.
As much as I love Sera and Nyktos, the constant sex after Sera woke up was too much! Maybe making up for the fact that they hadn't been together the rest of the book? But geez. I did appreciate that the trauma she went through was still sort of present, but I feel like we could have waited for some of the adventurous stuff for the next book. Let Sera heal.

This book gives very different vibes than the previous 2. It talks a lot more about bodily autonomy and consent/controlling others for power, rather than controlling others as an attempt to keep them safe. It also is much slower with a focus on mind games than physical prowess, as such we see less sword fighting, but we get a lot more emotional vulnerability that I feel makes up.
