Reduced half a star because it couldโ€™ve been shorter but I understand why some parts had to be excruciatingly prolonged

I love me a good steamy vampire romance. HOWEVER: 1. if you are gonna write high fantasy, dont use phrases and concepts that literally never would happen in a pre-industrialization world. Like why tf are you making a "fast food" joke? 2. THERE ๐Ÿ‘ IS ๐Ÿ‘ NO ๐Ÿ‘ NEED ๐Ÿ‘ FOR ๐Ÿ‘ GRAPHIC ๐Ÿ‘ DESCRIPTIONS ๐Ÿ‘ OF ๐Ÿ‘ VIOLENCE ๐Ÿ‘ AGAINST ๐Ÿ‘ WOMEN ๐Ÿ‘ IN ๐Ÿ‘ A ๐Ÿ‘ FANTASY ๐Ÿ‘ BOOK. Honestly, there are very few situations that this type of violence should be used in any fiction book.

TBH if I wasn't such a sucker for this series it would be rated lower.

If the two main characters hadnโ€™t been imprisoned for over 300 pages, this would have probably been a 5 star.
That being said, the use of their imprisonment to uncover the lore  of the main villain was very well done. It could easily have been depressing and tedious but instead it was suspenseful and compelling.
I finished this book on my lunch break and found myself at barnes and noble after work, picking up the next one in the series.

This book was incredibly repetitive and nothing happened for the first 60%. Not a ton even happened in the last 40%, but at least the plot moved forward. If I werenโ€™t already so invested in Sera and Ashโ€™s story Iโ€™d check out, honestly. Praying that the last book is better (books 1 & 2 were much better, so I have hope).

I usually enjoy the books in this series because of the cheesy romance but I really struggled to get through this one. This book is about main character, Seraโ€™s, time spent under the captivity of the King of the Primals, Kolis, and it is pretty dark but also very drawn out with a lot of emotional suffering. I read books that are fun and entertaining and 80% of this book made me tense and anxious. I donโ€™t enjoy that kind of reading experience so this has been my least favorite book of the series, but some people might enjoy exploring those other emotions.

This book was significantly darker than the others- nothing was held back. There is so much lore built into each book which is great. I wish we did get Nyktosโ€™s perspective

Would tread carefully if mentions of sexual assault are triggering to you.
