This is the book that, whenever I'm feeling down, I can pick up and read. Everything seems so familiar. I can't even begin to guess how many times I've read it over and over. I know that there's a lot of people out there who consider CitR overrated, cliche, the list goes on... but you guys can go fuck yourselves, because to me, this is an awesome book and I can't even begin to describe how much it's meant to me. ...So there! hah :P

I kept waiting for something more poignant than teenage angst; a revelation, a new sense of self awareness, a conclusion? but I guess that's it. a cult classic, either you get it or you don't. I understand why some do, but it didn't hit me in the face as a life changer.

I hate this book. From start to finish I couldn't find anything redeeming about this "classic." Maybe I am too old to identify with Holden, or maybe I don't have enough sympathy for what he is going though...either way, I just couldn't stand it.

I am happy to strike another "must read" book off my list.

Great classic, very anxiety ridden and strange but interesting overall.

The ultimate coming of age story--the language is a little raw. It's one of my favorites--love Salinger's writing style. If I ever wrote a book, this would be the style I'd imitate--with slightly less-colorful language.

It was a really strange book. Nothing really happened, but i actually liked it. I cared a lot about Holden and his relationship with his brothers and sister, and, even though Holden also annoyed the hell out of me sometimes, I loved the expressions he used ("sonuvabitch", "helluva", "goddam", "old (name of person)", and so on).
