I liked it more than I was expecting at the start I thought it might become too crude and annoying. But i loved it especially how it explored themes like intelligence and maturity. It is a product of its time and has some dated ideas, especially about some things. But in a way I liked how it explored how young boys at the time had to mature faster.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy catcher in the rye at all. I picked it up on a whim, since I figured the summer before college would be the perfect time to read it. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much, the themes of innocence lost and struggling to find your place in the world really hit home. Maybe it’s a testament to Salinger’s writing. Maybe it’s just that I will never read anything like it again.
I’ll never understand why people call this a red flag book. Yes, Holden is not the easiest protagonist in the world, but he is also confused, depressed, young, and traumatized.

My fav book of all time :)))) I want to shake Holden and yell "GET BETTER YOU POOR KID" he's a screwed up kid who has a good heart and the depiction of his thoughts and actions are unbelievably real to how I remember my adolescence. There is def some older language that wouldn’t be used if it was written today but it's compassionate to its characters and the situations they are in.

Ich fands furchtbar, also wirklich.

Was soll dieses Ende?
Insgesamt

The main reason why I did not really enjoy this is the insufferable narrator. I’m aware that this is supposed to be a coming-of-age story, but the tone used gets annoying after a few chapters.

This book is definitely unpleasant to read in a way that a book written by a man about a man in the mid 1940s is. Makes me glad I veil. I saw one person say this book is really good, so I read it… Holden is just about the most annoying character ever. The only time I had some sort of emotional feeling was with Phoebe at the end. Just… no
