I really loved the concept of this book. I thought having the Greek Gods become mortal for a time and sending humans to hunt them down to gain their immortality was a really cool concept.
I also liked how the different houses were all based on Greek myths, from more commonly known to lesser known.

All the characters were great in this story. For as much as the concept was really cool, Lore, Castor, Athena and the others were what made the story. From the Gods to the mortals everyone had flaws and there was a constant distrust that runs through everyone as the stakes are life and death. It makes for really good moments where the stress and emotions are at peak and everything comes to head.

This along with the amount of twists that this story has, had me devouring the book in three days over the Christmas period. It was addicting and really good entertainment. I would love to see this made into a movie or TV show.

This was the first YA book I've read in a long time that didn't feel like a 'regular' YA book. There are no elven princeses to wisk you off the underhill. There are, on the other hand, the old gods. This is a really great premise. The gods are hunted every year by ancient bloodlines to gain their power. So good!

You can see the growth in Lore. From the flashbacks from when she was a short tempered 10 year old to now. The results of that short tempered nature are horrible, and it leaves a traumatizing scar on her. It's that scar, that chip on her shoulder, that allows her to be manipulated by one who claimed to want to help her.

Also, Zeus makes a 'cameo' appearnce.

a very interesting twist on modern greek mythos. very grim at parts but so full of hope at others. very sweet characterization and even though i was confused for part of it it was still entertaining

i loveeee a good corruption arc and even though lore didn’t get fully “corrupted,” it was interesting and very realistic to see her spiral away from her whole pacifist, “done with the hunt” rhetoric she initially attempted to stick to

I really really wanted to love this book. I really did. Everything about this story is something i'd enjoy. And I did like parts of it but a lot of it felt forced.
The first 2/3rds of the book felt slow, too much building without actually telling a story. The next part felt really good but still rough to read. A lot of the dialogue felt like someone writing it, instead of actual alive characters.
And the ending.. it ended that way simply because she *asked*?
