I wanted to love this so much more than I did. I spent the first 180 pages yelling at the book to be better. About the half way point it really picked up and became a page turner but I really wish the first half of the book had been condensed in four chapters so getting to the actual story itself wouldn't have felt like a slog.

Perhaps I am just used to fantasy books that are duologies or trilogies so I was excited to get it all in one book. The premise of gods and Greek mythology is an interesting one but you do have to fill in some mythology holes to get the most of the story and that’s partially because it’s just one book. The love story was bland as was the character development. It found myself not really caring what happened to any of them except Miles. The end was lackluster and left questions - what happened to the gods
who sacrificed? Is the Agon over? Athena killed Lore’s whole family but knew she had to get Lore to give the shield willingly? Seems like a convenient twist that really didn’t make much sense.

I loved this book!! It was a mixture of Percy Jackson and the hunger games. It was quite gory for a YA book and I often forgot that it was targeted to teens until they censored curse words. Would have been five stars, except there were some really confusing parts. The author did a lot of research into Greek mythology which was really cool. Hugh recommend!

Not sure how to rate this one. Got the rec from a fave booktoker and not unhappy about it. I did devour it (an easier read and enjoyed the pacing and mythology). That said, I struggled in places: the plot meandered, supporting characters weren't well-developed, and was rather disappointed in the anticlimactic ending.

Loved it, one of the few books I read recently that I couldn't set aside
