A bit of a slow burn but definitely worth it! Mark & Chet going from childhood friends to not friends to enemies to lovers was 🙌🏻. They have some fantastic banter and truly go to bat for one another. I love how well they know each other even all these years later. Also that epilogue was fantastic!

I liked some things about this one more than the first- mainly how this one wasn't written in a serialized way. (The story definitely flowed better and didn't run into the issue of feeling like we were just trying to get to the next spicy scene.) But I was hoping for it to be a tad angstier given Mark and Chet's history and families.
My biggest issue though is how this book was marketed as "rivals to lovers" and it really wasn't? Like, they were kind of rivals in the sense that they both worked at the same summer internship. But mostly they were just two competitive guys with a childhood history.
Eh, just one of those instances where I feel like trying to market something with generalized tropes is a disservice to the story.
Overall, still fun and light and sweet.
And one of my favorite things about this series so far is the way that these characters agonize over the coming out process, their partners are super supportive and patient, and then they just end up gracelessly blurting it out to groups of people who are then just like, "no fucking way, you guys are boning? that's crazy do you want a beer?" and life moves on.

Steamy enemies-to-lovers / second chance-ish MM Romance
*****
Rating: 4 Stars
Steam: 3.5 flames

This was one heck of a ride. Chet and Mark grew up best friends, their families were best friends… until Chet’s father does something to land himself in jail… and irrevocably change Chet’s life forever.
Chet is now an outcast, and has gone from pampered prince to pariah. Mark and Chet meet up again in college, and find out they are both vying for one coveted internship. Boy, my heart felt for Chet… a young man, saddled with his father’s sins and Mark… saddled with his fathers hatred.
These two together though… wowzer. This book is more than just steam. The journey these two have to go through to get their HEA will test their limits and difficult choices will be made. It was a fantastic journey, which by the end had me swooning and cheering them both on.
I will definitely finish out this series and I totally look forward to Show Me.

This is a DNF for me just because I cannot do angst right now. I love this series, but this is my least favorite of the three. I definitely want to come back to it someday, just not for me right now.

The concerns I had about the first book in this series are definitely not present in this book. There is lots of plot and a deeper exploration of both of the characters. I liked the characters and the book, but the story was kind of sad in a few places. So glad they got their HEA.
Also good to get some of the blanks from the first book filled in with Cam.
Definitely reading the next one.

“ that was the scary thing about love. It’s was unpredictable and unfathomable, and when you were waking a tightrope in its throes, the only thing that mattered was how much you trusted the person walking it with you.”
From friends to enemies to lovers.
Chet and Mark were close friends growing up until their fathers had a falling out, the pair lost touch. They developed a basketball rival which extended to their college days. When one of their friends overdoses, Mark blames Chet for selling him drugs and leading to the overdose

Com certeza melhor que o anterior, trazendo mais história os dois pontos de vista, problemáticas interessantes porém acho que faltou aquele apego mais emocional na história, teve drama mas não teve emoção propriamente quanto outros que já li. meh

I really loved the push and pull between Chet and Mark. And the fact that there wasn´t a miscommunicationtrope. There was some kn the beginning but that was quickly settled.
