Forced to wear suicide bomber vest to work or family will be raped & killed - horrendous choice! Great teamwork: explosives unit, Morris, Baxter & Trueheart, Callender & Feeney, Carmichael & Santiago, Mira
Academy Awards. Magic coat protects Eve in knife fight. Nadine gives Eve "Red Horse Legacy" to read and tells her the publisher wants to make it a trilogy and starts thinking of which case to write about. Peabody flies after takes booster & drinks espresso!

Up until now I have 5 starred every In Death book. I guess 47 is it.
Forty seven books in one series is a forking lot. These books follow the same formula. Every book. And didn't care. I loved it every time. While it always began with a murder and then Eve being brought in and then more murders and solving ensued....The murders were always different. And then there's the side stuff going on with whatever side character. I knew what I was getting and I love all the characters. Boom. Okay. Fine. So even though I'm not expecting something new...I'm still expecting something new. Some growth has to happen somewhere. Even if just a little tiny bit. From any of the characters. While the format of the story stays the same...they need to change somewhat.
I didn't find myself getting into this. Which isn't bad for 47 books in..but it's a bit sad for me.

Okay - I'm never going to quit the In Death series, because I love Nora Roberts and I love these characters and frankly, I'm too deep to quit now. That being said, I liked this storyline more than the past few in the series, but I'm kind of over it. I want to see some major evolution - we're nearly 50 books deep! - but I also realize major evolution would likely mean the end of the series, so I guess I'm mixed.

The Eve Dallas books went through a slump for me awhile back, but the last five have been really good, and this one was amazing. I love how the relationships build and grow - that's the best thing about having 47 books in a series. The characters are like old friends.

Another great addition to this series. I love the twists and turns, not only with the mystery but with the relationships between characters. Character development was not a huge part of this novel, but what was there was intriguing. I really enjoyed this novel and would recommend this series to almost anyone. There is so much more than just murder mysteries in these novels, there seems to be something for nearly every reader out there.
The dedication of J.D. Robb to provide a wonderful, enjoyable story is fully evident in this novel. Thank you.

Dang, I really really wanted the expected to happen for real and not in a dream, but I will take it. Geez. Laughing out loud at times, on the edge of my seat for the rest. Insane how these characters keep on giving. Sure, it's formulaic at times in her descriptions, but the mystery and character development save it every time. God I love this series.
