I am usually a huge fan of these books, but this one was a little hard to get through. It could be because it’s been a slight gap since I read the previous book so connecting the dots between the timelines was always on my mind and distracted me from the story. Still a very interesting twist and I love getting a backstory for Gothel.

Love getting the back story of Gothel! I love how they took lines from Tangled and put them in the book with a different perspective.

I’ve always wondered what mother Gothel did in her time away from Rapunzel, and this story brilliantly illustrates that. Mother Gothels story is truly fascinating!

June 27, 2019 - 2 stars : I honestly did not like this book. There were a few parts that were okay, but for the most part, the book was confusing as heck! There were so many things that made absolutely no sense. I had such high hopes since I love the one with The Beast, but it definitely didn’t like up to them at all.

UPDATED REVIEW (December 31,2022)
Now that I know that these books are meant to be read in order, I’ve been slowly making my way through them. As part of that, I did decide to reread this book and I have to say, I actually really enjoyed it. I’m no longer confused about things, because now that I’ve read the previous books, I see how everything is connected. This book is honestly probably one of my favorites. Gothel’s backstory is honestly so sad to me and I truly wish she wouldn’t have had to go through what she did. Does that make kidnapping a baby okay? No. But I still do feel for her.
