this is really interesting. I can't believe I never knew the story of the Osage Indian murders. It was the big case that J.Edgar Hoover leveraged to build the FBI. Well researched, well written...so many characters, hard to keep track, but so many murders!

I gave up. It felt so drawn out and maybe nonfiction is just not really for me

A depressing (and necessary) dive into one of the ugliest episodes in an already ugly history. I could feel the author's enthusiasm and outrage, but I never quite connected with the book. I always felt like I was reading a summary, though I'm glad I did.

So well written. I enjoyed this audiobook so much. It read like fiction. You can't read this without being so angry at this part of American history. And it has never been "fixed" or made right which is even more anger inducing.

Incredible, heartbreaking true story that reads like a thriller. A must read for American History.

i liked this a lot, especially for someone that doesn’t read a ton of non-fiction, but i truly wanted so much more of the native pov. i know that almost feels like im asking for a different book tbh, but i think that woudlve engaged me a lot more and it would’ve have taken me 12 years to read. either way, loved it.

So interesting and eye opening. Incredibly sad how badly humans treat each other but a very important read to learn about this part of US history that still bleeds today in some forms.

A fascinating book that will anger the reader. The book is not only about the Osage murders but about the treatment of American Indians by the US government and law enforcement. Shameful. Just shameful.
