This was a riveting book about the Osage murders and the start of the fbi. The more I learn the more I realize how systematically native Americans such as the Osage were targeted and ignored within the American justice system. However, it is never more clear than reading this book. The injustice and outright murders that continue to go unsolved without justice, both in the past and the present, are horrific. I appreciate that this was written in a way that was both informative and kept me on my toes.

Yet again I’m astonished to read horrors in American history that I should have heard throughout my life. This book is true crime written like a fiction. The only downside is that it was a little too long. But it kept my attention. I thought the audio version was pretty good.

This book was underwhelming despite the compelling story and unique angle. The narration lacked momentum and focus, and the writing was choppy.

This read like a thriller - SO many twists and turns right up until the last chapter. Incredibly interesting, dramatic, and heartbreaking. It’s a story of white people targeting a marginalized and vulnerable community (surprise surprise) to an absolutely unbelievable extent. The author’s goal was to keep the Osage story from disappearing, and I can confidently say that I’ll never forget it.

This story is unreal. I loved the way the author unfolded this true crime story.

This book is one of the greatest books of our time because it sheds light on a dark smear on our country’s history, the mistreatment of the Osage nation. Promoting this book as also the origin story of the FBI is brilliant because our culture has instilled in us a glorified, beautiful respect for the FBI due to the allure of the job. The truth is this is heavy, American propaganda created to protect the nations history and actions.
