"Dragonfruit" offers a pleasant young adult tale of rekindling friendships and self-discovery. The characters are engaging, and the growth of the main female character is a highlight. While some parts felt slow, the story kept me curious about the outcome. Overall, a solid 3-star read with a satisfying journey of friendship, growth, and problem-solving. The story left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling, but I didn't feel a giant loss of finishing the book. It was a cute, quick read.

This was a fun adventurous book. The magic was unique. Listened to the audio book. The narrator did a good job but I think I would have been more invested in the book if I had read the physical copy.

Reminded me of old-school adventures, in the best way. Loved the tattoo "pets" and all the Pacific Islander flavors. Seadragons are hunted and killed, but I do think this may even be middle-grade appropriate.

A bit slow in sections but this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was impressed by the vivid imagery she conjured up. A different fantasy type novel, if you’re interested in pacific island culture and mythology I would recommend

Makiia Lucier has a knack for creating unique worlds with interesting, likable characters. I do wish the story could have been developed more, but it was a lovely, enjoyable read overall.
