Taylor Jenkins Reid is the queen of writing timelines and perspectives. I have nearly made my way through every book she has written and you can really see her writing improve with each book she writes. I definitely enjoyed "Maybe in Another Life" and 'One True Loves more than "Forever, Interrupted" and "After I Do" but every Taylor Jenkins Reid book I consume, draws me in and provides an experience so different to the last. So far nothing has come close to Evelyn Hugo for me. That book and woman will have my heart and soul forever.

The concept for Maybe in Another Life is really interesting. I have always found the idea of alternate and parallel universes equally fascinating and completely overwhelming, so to explore that concept played out in a book was really a fun and new reading experience for me. I really loved Hannah and Gabby's friendship. I really loved Hannah and Ethan's relationship and their friendship. I really loved Hannah and Henry's relationship. I loved Carl and Tina as parents and Gabby teaching her dad about the importance of feminism and equality. There was just so much to love about this book.

This book tried too hard to convince me that it was ~deep~

Pls just stop talking about your messy buns n cinnamon rolls

Plus I already understood the fate thing after you mentioning it 3 times IT WAS ENOUGH

Also I really didn't like Ethan, he annoyed me

(P.S: I'm really tired so I'll try to summarize my thoughts with this:

I liked it, it was a good book, I just wish it was edited further.
It could have been so much better. Plus her writing definitely got better after this)

It physically hurts me to rate a TJR book this low.

I’ll give her a pass because it’s early stuff. This just had too much promise to fall this flat. It’s like if someone took In Five Years and wrote two different less good versions.

Do yourself a favor and watch that new Netflix movie with the exact same premise.

The concept of this book was great. A sliding doors retelling where we dive into two alternate universes of Hannah’s life based on one decision: go home or stay at the bar.

I really enjoyed the storyline’s of the book and found the different paths her life took a great read. However there was way too much repetition.

When describing a story or a conversation it was great to have it in full in one life path but seeing we had read it the chapter before when it’s repeated in entirety in the next it’s very much over done. Something that could easily have been referenced.

And oh my gosh if someone mentions the word cinnamon roll or high bun to me I may hit them! What is with authors creating female characters who’s personalities are based around a hairdo and a type of food. It’s annoying and somewhat condescending.

However if you get past the repetition, breakfast pastries and hairstyle requirements. It is a good read into the possibilities life can take you on. And I must say I don’t think after reading it I could choose which life path I would choose for her.
