This was a sweet book, but I found it majorly lacking in personality. Predominantly in the main character, Hannah, which made it difficult to really connect with the story. As its told in two alternating timelines defined by a single choice (stay out with her ex or go home early with her best friend, Gabby), that sort-of only added to the disconnect I felt like.

The one relationship in the book that I really loved was the only constant in both timelines—Hannah and Gabby’s friendship. I liked one MMC far better than the other, though neither had me in my feelings, as they say. Pretty predictable story arcs on both sides.

However, this is a really optimistic, hopeful read. Good if you’re wanting something light complete with not one, but TWO happily ever afters. It read quite fast, too, so that was a plus.

This was such a heartwarming and inspirational book! I really enjoyed the writing in alternate timelines, and how the author explored each possible outcome to Hannah’s decision.
I was really thinking that in each timeline, Hannah would end up in the same place/situation/with the same person/etc. and in some aspects, everything I suppose was meant to happen still happened. But it was still nice to have an ending that made you question how your decisions really impact the course of your life, and make you question if fate and destiny and soulmates really exist. It was definitely a book that gets you thinking!
But overall still makes you feel good and inspired that even if bad things happen or you’re lost, your decisions are leading you to the right place at the right time and everything happens for a reason, even if that reason doesn’t seem clear to us at the time.
It also has greatttt character development, and I thoroughly enjoyed the development of the female friendship along with the romances.

This was a rollercoaster and I want to go again. It made me cry and laugh and I whizzed through it in two days. Definitely going to read more of TJR’s earlier books after this her writing is glorious.

When I read the blurb and realised that this story was going to be split into alternating universes, I thought to myself "how is this going to work?" But, oh my god, it works.
Taylor Jenkins Reid is extraordinary–she gets these insane and unique ideas for novels, sprinkles some magic on them, and brings them to life EXACTLY how they should be written and read. I am never disappointed after reading her work and I highly recommend this, and all other books, written by her wonderful hand.
Incredible. Emotional. Genius.

Pros:
Super interesting premise, and I really liked the ending.
The friendship between Hannah and Gabby was super well written and their dynamic was lovely.

Cons:
It was soooooo repetitive when it came to the 'meant to be' dialogue. In almost every chapter one of the characters talks about how important choices are and how they were destined to be on this path and how your soulmate feels like The One and how if this thing happened to them it must be For A Reason.
We get it. This is a book about destiny. A bit less tell a bit more show please!

The audiobook narrator did a good job except the voice done for all the male characters sounded exactly the same. I couldn't keep track of them at all which made knowing if a scene was Ethan or Henry really difficult.

This book was so so good. At first, I wasn't sure of the writing style but then I got used to it. This book is told in alternating chapters. One chapter/storyline follows Hannah's life when she leaves the party with her friend and the other chapter/storyline follows Hannah when she stays at the party with her ex boyfriend. Both storylines were great! Both make you feel different emotions and make you root for different things to happen. I'm psyched to read more from this author 😍
