Includes some lovely sentiments but the way the story was written as a whole, didn't speak to me.

2.5 stars For fourteen years I worked in healthcare and experienced death almost daily. That said, I feel that Ware used a very narrow pool to form a top five list. Had a difficult time finishing this memoir as I was underwhelmed by the telling. Challenge prompt #28 yellow spine

This was more autobiographical than I expected. The focus seemed to be more on the author than the patients that she cared for. For every chapter on her experience with a patient, there was a chapter about her life outside of her work. Which is fine and she has great lessons from both experiences; I just had a hard time connecting the two until she ties them at the end.
