"Maybe this time you need to be your own Tom Hanks."
Annie is kind of stuck. She has a job writing, but instead of writing America's next favorite screenplay, she's the author on online articles about things like hemorrhoids. She is somewhat obsessed with finding her personal Tom Hanks, the quintessential romcom hero of Nora Ephron's movies.
When a studio sets up filming locally, Annie gets an opportunity to dip her toes into the field. And when she becomes "coffee girl" to the handsome star, witty banter with a little bit of hate ensues.
This is a light-hearted romcom. I smiled and laughed multiple times and enjoyed all of the relatable movie references. The secondary characters were fun and added a lot of good context. There are so many good one liners too!
I listened to the audio and the narrator was great. She felt believable and embodied the heroine's personality. Her intonation and inflection felt spot on.

I liked this book. I adore rom-coms and this was like a tribute to all my favorites. My issue was the lead- didn’t like her at all. The supporting cast was much more enjoyable!

This book was just ok. I was so looking forward to it, especially with all the 4-5 star reviews. Annie was annoying and was just too over the top and unrealistic. That being said I’ll probably read the 2nd book to find out what happens with Chloe. This is a Hallmark Channel read.

Really really cheesy? Yes.
Full of cliches? Yes.
But still a fun read if you're into 90s romantic comedies.

I actually really enjoyed this book. It was fun, light-hearted, and predictable in all the perfect rom-com ways. The voice reader did an amazing job as well! You might not take away any great life lessons from the story, but it's entertaining and less cheesy than you'd think.

Enjoyed the first half of the book and only managed to finish the book because I was curious about what the ending was. I plan on reading the sequel, but only because it's about a side character. I don't think I could handle another book with this main character.

Why can I not quit books that I know I’m not going to like?!

Well that was super fun! If you like romantic comedies from the 90s this is the book for you! I get annoyed watching most romantic comedies because I’m like, duh- you guys are MFEO!! (If you get that reference then you have to read this book. It’s from Sleepless in Seattle one of my favorite movies that gets referenced a lot in this book.)

She makes it clear on the first page she doesn’t want to marry Tom Hanks… she wants to find a person who is like the character Tom Hanks plays in his romantic comedies!
