Going into reading this book, if you ready the summary or taglines, you knew off the bat the main character was a murderer. So the book took you on a journey of why she did what she did and how she was accused of one she didn't do. So having what may be a spoiler in many other stories be told upfront was a different take and an interesting ride. I actually did not completely dislike the main character despite her huge character flaw. And maybe because the story was told from the main character's view that aided in humanizing her and not despising her. I'm sure if another narrative was presented in conjunction it may have changed that feeling. If you like suspenseful, mystery, thriller type reads, I would recommend picking this book up.

It took me awhile to get into this audio book, but at some point I found the premise entertaining and interesting.

Ruby is a licensed therapist, so she understands and rationalizes that while she has killed three people, she is not a sociopath. She is a kind and loving and empathetic human being. Perhaps because she is such a kind and caring person, she has convinced herself that she has done nothing wrong because the three people she killed were truly vile and evil. But she is now suspected of killing her husband – a person she loved and who was a kind and caring person. I loved every minute of this cleverly written book. The story is told from Ruby’s point of view and the author does an incredible job making her a really likeable character despite the fact she freely admits (to herself) that she is a murderer.
