A really enjoyable read.  I loved the premise, which makes it different from many others in the genre. Rothchild does a great job of threading the needle of making Ruby a villain, without falling into the "therapists behaving badly" trope. Despite being a murderer, I couldn't help but to root for Ruby to clear her name of the one murder she didn't actually commit.  This is a perfect summertime read!

I have read few novels, but I have not had one captivate me the way Blood Sugar did.
I grew to love Ruby Simon very quickly while hating the actions she has committed. While I did hate them, I did not want her to serve time for any of them! Ruby convinced me in her justification of why she did if.
I find it kinda ironic that Ruby is a psychologist yet
does not see herself as one that may suffer from a mental health condition herself
. However, her career definitely served her well in her own therapy sessions and police interrogations. What do to say, what not to say.
I loved Ruby’s love story, so my heart nearly broke reading about
her husband passing and her challenges with that
. Rothschild outdid herself with Ruby’s character!
The organization of this book is superb.. she brings characters in and out of the plot line seamlessly!! For example,
Roman returning after his betrayal
! So many great characters!
There is no huge plot twist, but little twist here and there that keep you wanting more.
If you like the Netflix series, You, (which I need to read the series) you will like this book! I highly recommend this book!! I really enjoyed it!!

Ruby finds herself in an interrogation room under suspicion of four murders. The thing is, she  is only guilty of three of them.

But Ruby, a successful Psychologist, does not believe that she is a sociopath. She just removes bad people from the world - a bully, a rapist and a woman with anger issues and disregard for anyone but herself.

But it is the death of her husband from a chronic illness that finally shines the spotlight on Ruby, and now she has a dogged detective on the trail of why people seem to die in her presence on a regular basis.

Full of characters who in real life, or in a different book, I would dislike... somehow in this story I don't.

This is a book that defies description. Part murder mystery. Part police/court procedural. Part a love story. Part an exploration into guilt, or the absence of it.

It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me stay up past my bedtime reading it.

This is a page-turning read that I couldn't put down. Highly recommended.

Thanks you to Hachette Australia for the review copy of this book.

I was happy to be chosen to receive the digital ARC of Blood Sugar from NetGalley. This type of genre/writing style is right up my alley. Rothchild’s debut thriller is worth the read. The storyline is creative and has you hooked and ready to go 5 pages in.
The story starts off in such a juicy way. You immediately know you’re in for a good read. She definitely kept me on my toes with this one. I will absolutely read another book by this author. Mild sexual content. Mild swearing. ( I think)
