A really enjoyable read.  I loved the premise, which makes it different from many others in the genre. Rothchild does a great job of threading the needle of making Ruby a villain, without falling into the "therapists behaving badly" trope. Despite being a murderer, I couldn't help but to root for Ruby to clear her name of the one murder she didn't actually commit.  This is a perfect summertime read!

Ruby finds herself in an interrogation room under suspicion of four murders. The thing is, she  is only guilty of three of them.

But Ruby, a successful Psychologist, does not believe that she is a sociopath. She just removes bad people from the world - a bully, a rapist and a woman with anger issues and disregard for anyone but herself.

But it is the death of her husband from a chronic illness that finally shines the spotlight on Ruby, and now she has a dogged detective on the trail of why people seem to die in her presence on a regular basis.

Full of characters who in real life, or in a different book, I would dislike... somehow in this story I don't.

This is a book that defies description. Part murder mystery. Part police/court procedural. Part a love story. Part an exploration into guilt, or the absence of it.

It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me stay up past my bedtime reading it.

This is a page-turning read that I couldn't put down. Highly recommended.
