Oh my god. At first, I was so excited for basically a toxic yuri book featuring a trans bisexual woman and a possibly aromantic woman and what instead I got were interesting, deep meditations on how race, gender, and sexuality intersect with the music industry with a postmodern switching of POVs, a keen sense of humor and understanding of millennial/gen Z cusp internet culture, and....just an absolutely beautifully written book. That's not even beginning to discuss how Neela feels unintentionally written like a generous, kind portrayal of someone with NPD as well as arguably a plural of some sort (I would know, as a plural) and the amazing unintentional BPD coding in Rukmini as well. Man, this is gonna be a book I won't stop thinking about. Everytime I think I'm gonna stop the review, I just keep blabbing out more, but I want to keep it as spoiler free as possible....it's just so good. Love this book. Love Vivek Shraya's writing style. She should write more. Please.
