“Oh, how sweet. Let me check my give-a-shit meter to see where that registers. Nope, nothing there. Sorry.”
Linda Howard used to be one of my favorite authors, but after a few disappointments, she slipped off my radar screen. I thought I'd revisit her again, hoping that she had regained her appeal. As mentioned by many reviewers, there was way too much dog in this. Even the dog's toy (a ball) had over 120 mentions. I skipped through the last half. There were some good parts, here and there, and some good characters. Enough that I will probably check out the next in the series that this one begins. The clue to the mystery was in plain sight and I just didn't see it. I felt very stupid. So good on her.

I liked this one - i've read most of her older books, so it was nice to see something new.

This was my first Linda Howard book and I will definitely add her to my list of go-to authors! I really enjoyed her storyline involving Tricks the dog. Tricks is very intelligent and gave a lot to the story. The first part of Troublemaker was full of action, but then I got a little bored. I feel like it needed a little more adventure. Even at the end, when we discovered who the bad guys were, I felt it could have been more adventurous.

I like small town romance and this fits that plot; however, in these times, the use of condoms is a must!! I wouldn't bring this up, but in the story they discuss the fact that they didn't have a condom but continued on with unprotected sex. They had only known each other a few weeks and didn't know much about the other one's past.

I do not want to give any more info about the story itself because I don't want to spoil it for future readers, but again I will say Linda Howard is a good author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

This was a Goodreads.com giveaway.

I'm a big fan of Linda Howard and her books are typically a must buy for me but this story did fall a little flat compared to the magic of some of her earlier releases. Morgan is a member of an elite paramilitary team that is almost killed and is sent to a small town for recovery to stay with his boss's stepsister, Isabeau "Bo". Bo never really did appreciate having step-siblings and this was not a favor she really wanted to fulfill but she couldn't turn Morgan away. Initially they have sparks of pure annoyance but as Morgan recovers and they get to know each other more, those sparks turn heated fast. But whoever was after Morgan didn't complete their initial and he quickly becomes a target again. Can Morgan and Bo discover who is behind the attacks before they lose their battle? Fun story and I'll continue the series but hopefully it will get some of the magic back from earlier releases.

Bo lives by the same routine each day in her small town until wounded devil may care GO-Team operative Morgan literally stumbles into her world- quickly inserting himself as a permanent fixture. As the romance builds in this story you will find your interest in it does as well. Yes there’s always a tense danger lurking closely in the shadows but I found myself waiting for Morgan’s past just to ‘catch up with him already.’ Small town conflicts, although sometimes interesting, are incomparable to secret operative missions.

I've always wanted to read a Linda Howard novel just because I'm a huge romantic suspense fan. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough suspenseful elements in this.
