As a political figure, Anne surprisingly doesn't get it. Her sister Isabel is better at court and politics, but she's too pessimistic and suspicious of occult. I wished Anne had more insight, and the plot wouldn't have suffered with her having more self awareness. Also the whole going crazy thing, that Elisabeth is a with and is killing them was a bit too far. Yes, yes, that was an idea of that time, but did they had to believe it? I mean Isabel died after giving birth, she probably had medical issue or something didn't heal properly, maybe she got an infection. No, they did know about these things like that, but they knew giving birth is dangerous and can lead to death. It's literally common sense!

- started this earlier in the year and dnf'd because it just bored me, i think i just tried to read it too close to the previous philippa gregory book
- it's basically the same as the last book, but told from a different perspective. interesting to see how easily i change loyalties when i read a new perspective!
- it's not bad but not mindblowing, to be honest. there's a lot of times where i struggle to remember who belongs to which house, who's on whose side etc., there's a lot of people and i just don't remember them all
- more enjoyable than the first time, but doubt i'd re-read any of these books!

TWs: war, death, violence, blood, gore, pregnancy, stillbirth, pregnancy complications, vomiting, alcohol consumption, incest, death of father (murder, war), death of sister, death of children, poisoning, animal death, suicidal thoughts, cheating

I Switched to audio as I couldn’t sit and read the physical book. This book like the previous two have the same basic story from differing
viewpoints which is getting too repetitive and boring! the white Queen, the red Queen, and now this all tell the same exact story.

JUST WRITE ONE BOOK WITH DIFFERENT POVs FOR  WHEN THEIR STORIES OVERLAP I DONT CARE IF ITS 800 PAGES 🙃

All the women are whiny “pick Me’s” and Gregory really does not make them strong women but conforms to her own misogyny.

This one made me question if I even want to read the rest of the series, and I decided I don’t. It’s not worth it when the writing and characters are the same every single time. The plot is boring, the characters whine and don’t do anything. I couldn’t give a shit about Anne-she’s a historical figure I know nothing about, and I feel like this didn’t give me any sort of motive to learn more about her.
