Alicia Black Sullivan Valentine thought she found the man of her dreams. Oh brother!! Her naivete was atrocious. She rushed and married a man she did not know that well and did not listen to what her father had to say about his feelings towards this man. JT was really another Curtis but not exactly but very very close. This installment was more interesting than the last being that JT has a bit more character. I did not get the purpose of Levi coming back on the scene well virtually because nothing ever came of it. He did help her in the end and I am not sure why he did it in the first place. I did not have too much sympathy for Alicia once again. Her personality had more spunk when she was a child than she does as an adult. Anyway the epilogue sped up the story which could have been mentioned in the last three chapters. That is a theme in this series.

Alicia Black is the privileged daughter of the charismatic Reverend Curtis Black, from getting what she wants. One month after her wedding to her second husband, she can't believe her good fortune, and blessing her with Pastor JT Valentine, a handsome, dynamic man of the cloth with his own large congregation, just like her father. Unfortunately, Alicia doesn't understand just how much like Curtis her new husband truly is, a man of the cloth who unfortunately mirrors far-too-closely her rascally dad. He only married her to get close to her father's money and fame. But while Alicia is blinded by love. Her dad warned his little girl that JT simply can't be trusted. After all, it takes one to know one, and who better to see into the darkness of a sinner's heart than Curtis? A host of lies, longtime secrets, and acts of betrayal comes to light, and Alicia must face some very crucial and life-changing decisions. This time, she's got to be careful what she prays for.
This book is #7 of 15 in the Reverend Curtis Black Series. Published on December 28, 2010. Roby dedicated the book to best selling author, E. Lynn Harris who passed away on July 23, 2009. The chapters are short, therefore making the novel a quick read (271 Pages). The characters are well developed. Be Careful What You Pray For, is a tale of love and ambition that once again deals with important issues as it tells a witty, moving, page-turning story. However, this novel was so similar to a previous Reverend Curtis Black storyline, but the main characters were changed to Reverend Black’s daughter, Alicia and her newly married husband, Reverend JT Valentine. I’m sure this was intentional by Mrs. Roby to introduce these characters to the series, but I felt that it was a repeat from her previous novels. I still wanted to continue with the drama, and my anticipation, curiosity was still piqued. I WILL continue with the series and move on to Love, Honor, and Betray to see what more mayhem, and lies these family unfold.

This was a great read. The story of an adulterous minister who is driven by greed and envy. He has a loving wife who trusts him and a father-in-law who sees through the charade. The story is fast moving with an expected ending but surprising in how it all unfolded. Kimberla Lawson Roby held my attention throughout with a captivating storyline that many will be able to understand.
