Very simple story, easy read. There's not much of a storyline to it, so it's not much of a page turned or gripping plot, but it's good

This is book one in a new series for Daisy James, the Hummingbird Hotel series. As the first book in the series, it is a standalone, but if, like me, you have read the previous series written by Daisy, there are links to them that will make you smile. Don’t worry if you haven’t though, I’m sure you will love it anyway.

I love the way in which Daisy writes series so we end up feeling like the characters are real and substantial, and I must say I’m looking forward to reading more about the characters in the subsequent books. I also love that her books are escapist treasures, and Escape to the Hummingbird Hotel takes us to an idyllic hotel off the beaten track on the island of Corfu.

As I won’t be escaping to warmer climes any time soon, I love the opportunity to escape with my books, and this was a perfect summer read. It made me feel like I was there with Abbie and Nikos. The additional characters were also lovely and I can see where the story may develop in the next book in the series. I also loved that each chapter had a different flower, and it was fun googling them as part of the scene-setting. In addition to the romance, and the concern over whether Abbie would keep the hotel or sell it, but there was even a little mystery to solve when one of the guests ends up with pink hair.

This was such a wonderful story filled with the vibrancy of Corfu, with delicious food and wine, and romance and mystery all perfectly woven together.
