I'm enjoying this series, especially the dragons. The romance has me a bit conflicted as it seems too possessive, for want of a better word, in a way that makes me uncomfortable. I love the world and the contrast we get in this book with the riders as compared to the brutal world of school in the last book.

I liked this book just as well as Fourth Wing. The pace is slower than Fourth Wing, however I enjoyed seeing more of the world than just Basgiath.

I still think there are large holes she could fill to make the world feel more rich and lived-in. I'd also have less of a chapped ass if the author would stop throwing in modern verbiage in this fantasy universe.

adding "Rebecca Yarros" to my list of people who have upset me. That's the ending? THAT???

Wasn't expecting to love this, based on my reaction to book 1, and i didn't. Not a lot of surprises (save that ending). The back-and-forth in the beginning of will-they-won't-they felt a bit overplayed. Some f*cked up sh*t in this book, I continue to have issues accepting that things certain societal institutions (vagueposting ;)) do are just acceptable (a concept this series just glosses right over, though a feather-light touch of potential critique can [shockingly] be found in this book).

Definitely interested in finding out what the hell is going to happen in book 3!
