a nice light charming informative book. very engaging. the author seems like someone I would have a nerdy beer with.
complaints: what is the scientific name of this almendro tree? why don't the illustrations and photos better match the text? how come the chapter on coffee only talked about the drink and not the plant? arg!

After finishing Feathers, I had seen this book on Thor Hanson's website as forthcoming. It is as well written and interesting as his previous book, Feathers. I like how he also referenced another good read from 2014 in the chapter on seed dispersal, The Monkey's Voyage by Alain de Queiroz.

Very breezy and accessible book about the importance of seeds. Chapters are hit and miss towards the end, but Hanson writes in an entertaining way that isn't bogged down in technicalities.

What I like so much about Seeds and the other Hanson book I read, Feathers, is learning we don't have all the answers, as long as we keep asking questions. We are still discovering so much about the natural world by testing conventional wisdom and staying open to new ideas. Hanson has a sense of wonder and curiosity which is contagious. Very readable.

I love books like these, so I kind of already knew I'd love this (whoops :))

I did not expect to like this book - I mean, a whole book just about seeds? But it's a love letter to seeds and evolution and the amazing things nature comes up with...
It was really interesting and amusing...
