I adore Knight Owl and now Early Bird has joined in on the fun and I adore her too! This is a lovely book about finding your place. Parents will also be sure to laugh over the exuberance of Early Bird and may be reminded of kids in their life.

Knight Owl is still the cutest to bootest design, all one foot tall in his little armor and cape, keeping a stalwart watch on the castle walls. Seeing him puttering around with a mug of coffee and sleepy eyes, and snoozle-ing with his dragon plushie is the sweetest thing. And then the artist gave us Early Bird, adorable, excitable, annoying, all hoppity, hop, hop, hop, wearing a mug as a helmet!! I can't with the cute. A very animated, expressive, entertaining, and atmospheric read.

My love for Knight Owl knows no bounds, so when I discovered Christopher Denise had gifted us a sequel, I could barely contain my excitement! Spotting Knight Owl and Early Bird on the shelf at my local indie, Bookstore1Sarasota, I immediately sat down to read it—and instantly fell in love. Early Bird’s boundless energy and relentless enthusiasm are both endearing and, I imagine, a bit exhausting for the ever-watchful Knight Owl. But when danger lurks in the forest, Early Bird steps up in a way that proves she’s more than up to the task.
Denise has done it again with a story that’s both heartwarming and brimming with charm, complemented by his delightful illustrations. Knight Owl and Early Bird is everything I didn’t know I needed: lovable characters, a sweet lesson on friendship and teamwork, and a new favorite for my shelf. I can't wait to revisit this enchanting world again and again!

𝗞𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗢𝗪𝗟 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗬 𝗕𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 is an absolutely charming story about unexpected friendship and teamwork. I loved how Early Bird, with her endless enthusiasm and curiosity, tries so hard to be brave like Knight Owl, even if she ends up keeping him awake during the day! Their friendship is so sweet and genuine, and their journey to protect the kingdom is full of warmth and adventure.
The illustrations are gorgeous, bringing the characters and medieval setting to life in such a magical way. Knight Owl’s bravery and Early Bird’s cheerful determination make for a delightful duo. This story is perfect for teaching kids about the importance of teamwork and supporting each other’s strengths. I can’t wait to read it to my grandson—it’s sure to be a favorite in our house!
