This book... Confused me. But that doesn't mean I didn't like it! I was very lost at points, and thought I was following along, but then had to pull up some SparkNotes. This is my first Gaiman novel, and I think I need to read a few more to really get his writing style. I think this was a very unique and original story that kept me on my toes, but again I was CONFUSED. I really loved the ending, though. One of the few glimpses of happiness in this novel.

Can't quite pin down what I liked about this book, but the writing style is classic Neil Gaiman and the world-building is complex but rarely explained, which always works for him.

I found myself immersed in London below and wanting to explore it further! The edition I listened to also had the short story how the marquis got his coat back, which was a great edition. Although there were some dark and challenging portions of the book, the plot and characters were easy to fall back into. I enjoyed that London below is where the folks who "slip through the cracks" end up and the nitty gritty version of their stories, although fantastical are honestly a bit relatable.
