Harry Hole has retired from the police force, but now is lecturing at the university....but he got dragged into a scary serial killer's antics.

It is good to see the dynamic of father...with Rakel's son Oleg. Good also to see Harry and Rekel making a go of their relationship. There really is a love there.

BUT, as in all Harry Hole books, Harry gets so miopic, that his relationship with Rakel falters, then things happen and he caves to the drinking, too. Ugh. So hard to see Harry in this situation.

When the case wrapped up, it seemed incoplete, but then Harry does was Harry does...and makes it ALL work out.

Such a wonderful conclusion to a very disturbing murder spree by a supposed Vampire (ha!).

Harry STILL has it, in spades.
