The first half is mostly a delight, despite being a good bit arduous to read given the antiquated language. The second half has its moments, but they are few and far between. Painfully repetitive at times, copying and pasting Christian's journey. I'm glad to have read it. I'm grateful for its impact on countless Christians over time. But I did not find it the tour de force Christian classic that so many consider it. Maybe when I'm older and wiser.

I love it for the quest and fairytale bits. It’s my second read through and I could still do without all the didacticism. And Christiana really becomes quite insufferable.

In old English, so took awhile to warm up to the style. The premise was fabulous...the road to Heaven. But, I didn’t understand all the references and found my mind wandering during it.

Just a fantastic, encouraging, book. It's filled with appropriate warnings for pilgrim's and holds up the hope of life eternal with Christ so beautifully, it helps the reader set the minds and hearts on things above. It's my fourth read so far, and I know I will read it many more times.

So good. I ended up accidentally analysing it cuz it was so good. I love the fact that every character is literally who they say they are. I love this book.

Wow. This allegory is simply breathe taking. I understand why it is considered a classic. John Bunyan does an incredible job at showing the joys and challenges of living the Christian life this side of heaven. If you want to be saturated with biblical truth while having your imagination stirred, read this.

Definitely a classic that everyone should read at least once in their life. Christiana's journey is just ok if you really want to read it but Christians journey is the important one

I often enjoy classic literature written well before my time, but not [b:The Pilgrim's Progress|29797|The Pilgrim's Progress|John Bunyan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1405982367s/29797.jpg|1960084]. I'm trying to think about who I might recommend this one to, and can only think of one of my old Sunday School teachers who loved to philosophize. Almost everyone else, including myself, will find it to be boring. To be fair, I'm sure the book wasn't intended to be appreciated in speeded-up audio form while doing housework and driving around in a car. That's how I do almost all of my books these days. This book is beautifully written and is witty, but those qualities didn't make up for the redundancy and lack of interest.

There are two parts to the book. I finished the first part.
