A friend recommended this to me because she loved it. It was ok. No one was likeable, I didn't feel pulled in and I felt like moments that were meant to be shocking and should take time were over in a few pages. I commend the authors ambition, but it never quite got to somewhere fulfilling. Check the trigger warnings!!

thought i didn’t like it after reading it, but honestly it was so good. very dark and creepy and makes you think a lot of people around you.

I'm gradually adding books I've read in 2021 to give a true reflection of the books I've read since keeping records.  This was the first book I read in 2021, and is what kick-started my reading journey having put reading on the  back burner whilst bringing up the children,  previously being an avid reader.  A domestic abuse psychological thriller. A toxic marriage witha strong female barrister lead but somehow she was really unlikeable. Whilst it was an ok read' at times it was uncomfortable which as manipulation goes it hit the spot.  Finally a thriller that hit the spot for me! I went in blind and I had no idea what to expect but this book was a gripping page-turner. The characters are all so unlikeable. The lack of respect, empathy and human decency was unreal. The whole mood and setting of the book was so dark, toxic and disturbing be sure to check trigger warnings! The pacing was very well done in my opinion and even though I guessed a main twists it did not make the reading experience less enjoyable. I had this book sitting on my shelf for a very long time but I'm very happy I finally got around to reading it!
