Spoiler review.
I found this book very frustrating. How a solicitor couldn’t see the life she was living and would blame herself for being a bad mother. Yes, she did wrong by cheating. But she was in a loveless marriage where her husband constantly belittled her! I was glad at the end when we found out what he had been doing even longer than her affair, although it did make me feel sick the things he did. I was left with a weird feeling of meh after reading this book. I did like how the beginning linked with the end, however it took me few times reading it to realise what had actually happened.

I'm gradually adding books I've read in 2021 to give a true reflection of the books I've read since keeping records.  This was the first book I read in 2021, and is what kick-started my reading journey having put reading on the  back burner whilst bringing up the children,  previously being an avid reader.  A domestic abuse psychological thriller. A toxic marriage witha strong female barrister lead but somehow she was really unlikeable. Whilst it was an ok read' at times it was uncomfortable which as manipulation goes it hit the spot. Not as expected a d very dark

It was readable. The characters were all so unlikeable and there was nothing else to keep the reader entertained. It was a slog to get through and most of the “twists” were easily guessable as they happened. I’ve read another Tyce novel and loved it and was really looking forward to this book because of that, however I was thoroughly disappointed. Also, would’ve appreciated a TW for very graphic depictions of rape - it’s like the focus for the whole second part of the book. If I could prevent anyone else from having to read that I would. (I promise that is not a spoiler)

This book was a bit slow but I finished it in about two days as a quick and easy thriller read. I hated every single character apart from Tilly and unfortunately I partly guessed the twist so I wasn’t blown away. Not much really happens in the first 270 ish pages (basically the entire book) with the twist feeling rushed and anticlimactic placed right at the end of the book. I was a bit disappointed after hearing good things and having the book on my TBR for so long , but still an easy read so I can’t complain too much.
