It was okay, I guess?

For me, this series got progressively better, with it's peak being the third book. This instalment was a bit of a flop in comparison.

Half the book was about Lucas not being able to control his bloodlust as a new vampire, and at points I just found myself thinking SUCK IT UP, DUDE. I mean, really? All the other vampires manage to get over themselves, but he can't? It just started irking me.

And that ending?! I'm sorry, but I did not read four books about these people to have the ending be so stupid and unfulfilling.

(SPOILERS)

Bianca: "But, Lucas, don't you mind not being immortal any longer?"
Lucas: "No, Bianca, because even when I'm dead a part of me will live on forever in your memories."

Um, am I the only one who finds Bianca spending eternity alone a depressingly unromantic ending?

So, it was all right, I suppose, except for the dumb conclusion.

The Evernight series by Claudia Gray has come to an end. Sad, sad day.

I remember when I first read Evernight and got thrown with that excellent twist. Gray got me gooood! I just fell for Lucas…and Balthazar!! This is one pair of guys I had a hard time choosing between. I’m really excited that Balthazar is getting his own book! Cannot wait to read it!

After that I could not get my hands on Stargazer fast enough. I was reading it on Christmas Eve because I recall not wanting to go to our family dinner, I wanted to stay home and keep reading! When Hourglass was released I couldn’t read it fast enough, wanting to know what happened next. Hourglass made me cry.

Now Afterlife. It was the most perfect ending to this series. It didn’t even really feel like it was a final book, which surprised me. It didn’t have a tone of finality throughout it like other series conclusions. It kept the romance, comedy and action that the other books have. I was really happy with all the character’s fates and outcomes.

Bianca and Lucas have one of my favorites relationships and I am glad they get their HEA, as unconventional as it is. This is one of the most satisfying finales I’ve read.

I liked this book much better than the previous one. The storyling wasn't great but somehow it was A-okay in the end.

I am not really sure what to say about this one. I was so excited to start reading it. I loved the first three books. Hourglass ended with such a crazy cliff hanger, I had no idea what to expect with Afterlife. But I feel that something is missing from the story and I am not sure what.
